At our school, we help learners to develop the skills that they need to succeed not only at school but in life. These are known as Meta Skills. Meta Skills are the abilities that help children to learn, adapt and work well with other, whatever the subject or situation.
Rather than teaching these skills in isolation, we build them into everyday learning across the curriculum. Children practise Meta Skills through play, discussion, problem solving, digital learning and real life contexts. We use shared language and visuals so children can recognise the skills and talk about their own skills.
Developing Meta Skills supports our learners to become confident and independent individuals who are ready for future learning, work and life beyond school.
